The Golden Carolus Route

On to Whisky Distillery De Molenberg
You cross the river towards the Domain Forest Het Broek in the Rupel Valley. This lush forest consists of poplars, willows and black alders and you will also find hayfields and ponds. A little further on you can take a break at Whisky Distillery De Molenberg. Since 2010, whisky has been distilled from the malt mash of the Gouden Carolus Tripel in this 17th century family farm. After a long maturation in oak barrels, this results in a unique Belgian quality whisky that you really have to taste. You can also take guided tours of the distillery here. From here you cycle on to Mechelen.

Beer according to an old recipe
In the cozy city of Mechelen you can admire the Palace of Margaret of Austria and then it is time for a drink at Brouwerij Het Anker. This is one of the oldest breweries in Belgium where a world-famous range of Gouden Carolus beers is now brewed.

Beautiful landscapes along the water
Then you head back to the starting point of the route. You cycle through the nature reserve Het Zennegat. At this point the river Dijle, the Zenne and the canal Leuvel-Dijle flow together. A valuable landscape has developed along the banks of the rivers with a charming house here and there.
