Description
Just outside Utrecht you can drive into the beautiful polder country. An ideal environment for a nice day of cycling along flowery meadows, rivers and historical sights. You will also pass Kasteel de Haar.
Cope landscape
In this region you will see the cope landscape with its characteristic narrow plots: a parcelling pattern whose origins date back to the thirteenth century. The hamlet of Teckop, through which you drive, was founded during the reclamation period. Along the river Meije you will see beautiful old farms on the dike. From a distance you can also see the almost sixty-metre high water tower from 1932, an iconic national monument that is also locally called Pietje Potlood.
Relax in comfort at Geertjes Hoeve
Near Harmelen you cycle through orchards and along the fairytale Vijverbos. At Geertjes Hoeve you can fully recover on the cozy terrace of the farm restaurant. This cozy restaurant is located in Haarzuilens, a village just outside Utrecht. Enjoy a tasty snack and a drink here and gain new energy. De Haar Castle
