Description

West of Emmen you will experience a varied day out in the Drenthe landscape. First you drive through the Broeklanden, a meadow bird area in the valley of the Drostendiep. A little later you drive across the wooded Landgoed De Klencke. The current manor house dates from the eighteenth century. Further on you cycle through Zweeloo, which at the end of the nineteenth century served as a source of inspiration for artists such as Vincent van Gogh. You can see some beautiful old farms here. At the edge of the village is a church that originally dates from the thirteenth century. At Camping & Grandcafe 't Haantje you can get off for a pleasant pit stop. After a snack and drink, the route takes you along the Orange Canal. Finally, you cycle through Sleen with its historic Brink.
