Walking through Stramproy and its wooded area

From Stramproy you can take beautiful walks through the wooded area. This route takes you to the tranquil border area with Belgium.

Quiet Strampprey pants
From the village center of Stramproy you can walk into the countryside in no time. You pass some characteristic farms and one of the 388 cast-iron border posts that were placed in 1843. Stramprooierbroek is the heart of Grenspark Kempen-Broek. It is also one of the quietest places in Limburg. Here you walk through oak forests, along wet swamps with alder and willow thickets and along meadows with wooded edges and pools. How beautiful it is here!

Old Broekmolen
At the Abeek you pass the Broekmolen, an underslung water mill dating from 1738. A beautiful photo opportunity! A little further on you walk into the deciduous forest of Areven. Every now and then you have beautiful views over flowery meadows and hay fields. The Sint-Willibrordus church on the village square is a nice sight, the marl tower dates from the sixteenth century.
