Groningen vistas
You depart from Hotel Restaurant de Boegschroef, a cozy location on the harbor of Delfzijl. You can enjoy a breath of fresh air on the dike along the Ems! Here you have beautiful views over the water and the vast Groningen polders. Along your route are neighborhoods with striking names. For example, Poland owes its name to its remoteness. Oudeschip is said to have originated around a ship that came ashore in the eighteenth century and was converted into a house.
Borkum
Once you have arrived at Borkum, you can discover a lot of history. In the Hanseatic period, the island was a pirate's nest. There are some interesting sights to see, such as the Old Lighthouse, a former church tower from the fifteenth century. In the harbor you can visit the Borkum Riff IV. This former lightship now serves as a museum. Its predecessor was used by Radio Veronica for a number of years after the sale.
