The border area of the Netherlands and Belgium near Hilvarenbeek consists of an extensive forest area. Green estates, vast forests and meadows connect seamlessly here. This route takes you through this natural area in North Brabant and across the Belgian border.
Wellenseind estate
At the start of this route you cycle across the Wellenseind estate. On this estate you will find two streams that meander through the landscape, green stream valleys, cover sand ridges and wooded drifting sands. Since 1915, the old agricultural landscape of this estate has been transformed into a beautiful nature reserve. Through this area you set course to Lage Mierde and then to Hilvarenbeek. Then you cycle further across the Belgian border to the Belgian Weelde and Ravels. You will find the Regional Forests around these pictures. Until the beginning of the 20th century, this was a gently sloping heathland with drifting sands and fens. Since then, beautiful deciduous and coniferous forests have been planted.

This area of 159 hectares partly consists of a coniferous forest and agricultural areas, but you will also find remnants of heathland and two fens. This area connects to De Utrecht Estate. This route takes you straight through this beautiful area.
