Tour of Alkmaarder and Uitgeestermeer

It is beautiful to cycle around the Alkmaarder and Uitgeestermeer. In some places you have a beautiful view of the rippling water. Feel free to dismount to enjoy the peace and the view. There is also no shortage of cultural history. In West-Graftdijk you will see the village church, this building originally dates from 1651. Further along is Oost-Graftdijk. Here is a village church from 1840 with a wooden tower. Behind an entirely wooden workers' house from 1877 is a unique cage. Generations of Graftdijkers made a living by flogging hemp for rope makers. Just before Uitgeest you pass some polder mills, such as the Woudaap from 1651. The Tweede Broekermolen dates from 1631. Via Castricum you cycle back to the Duin & Bosch Estate. Here you can enjoy a drink at De Oude Keuken.
