Tour of Alkmaardermeer and Uitgeestermeer

Cycling around the Alkmaarder- and Uitgeestermeer is wonderful. In some places you have a beautiful view over the rippling water. Feel free to get off to enjoy the peace and quiet and the view. There is also no shortage of cultural history. In West-Graftdijk you can see the village church, this building originally dates from 1651. Further on is Oost-Graftdijk. Here is a village church from 1840 with a wooden tower. Behind a completely wooden worker's house from 1877 is a unique hacking shed. Generations of Graftdijkers earned their living by hacking hemp for rope-making. Just before Uitgeest you pass several polder mills, such as the Woudaap from 1651. The Tweede Broekermolen dates from 1631. Via Castricum you cycle back to Landgoed Duin & Bosch. Here you can have a nice drink at De Oude Keuken.
