Reeuwijkse Plassenroute (short)

This route starts at TOP Reeuwijkse Hout and leads around the Reeuwijkse Plassen near Gouda. You will soon be walking on a leafy path along the Reeuwijkse Plassen. Here you can see old wood quays, reed beds and many birds. The lakes were created in the eighteenth century by peat extraction. In the rectangular shape of the lakes you can see how the former peatlands were parceled out at the time. The peat that was extracted from the ground here centuries ago was used by, among others, Gouda beer brewers and potteries. It is wonderfully quiet on the car-free dikes that separate the lakes. On the outskirts of Gouda, you can enjoy the varied natural beauty in the Goudse Hout city park. After a stopover at Café - Bistro't Wapen you will soon be back at your starting point.
