On Goeree-Overflakkee you can cycle carefree through the quiet polders. Wide views alternate here with dense dune forests. You will also find a surprising amount of cultural history here, such as in Dirksland and Goedereede.

The old Dirksland
In Stellendam you will pass the Korenlust, a flour mill that dates from 1856. In the Voorstraat in Dirksland you can still taste the atmosphere of earlier times. Further on you will pass the fifteenth-century church. There are still a few idyllic ancient buildings on the Ring: a beautiful picture!

Picturesque Goedereede
You cycle back through the polders to Goedereede, a surprisingly beautiful monumental town. You can admire the striking tower from 1512 here. It is a church tower, but it was also used as a lighthouse until 1912. The large village church dates from 1708. You can also take a leap back in time at the Haven, there are many houses from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

This mill was built after its predecessor (in 1821) was pushed off its foundations by a hurricane in November 1838. Parts of the old mill were also reused in the current mill. Until about 1927, the mill also had a peeling stone under the rack attic. The remaining fur chest reminds of this. The mill was used by the Nachtegaal family of millers until 1957 and then until 1961 by the owner SJ Later on a commercial basis. In 1961 the mill was purchased by the then municipality of Stellendam and restored in 1964/1965. In 1988 the ownership of the mill was transferred to the Molenstichting Goeree-Overflakkee, which had restorations carried out on the mill in 1990 and 1994. The mill, which protrudes high above the village, has a crest on rod wings, which is unique in mill construction.
