Cycling tour through Nijmegen

Nijmegen not only has a beautiful old city centre, but also other neighbourhoods and city parks that are worth seeing. This cycle route takes you through the Goffertpark, which was built between 1935 and 1939 as part of a work provision scheme. No machines were allowed to be used, all the work was done by hand. Further on you cycle through the forests of Heumensoord and the Elshof. You follow the course of the Maas-Waal Canal for a few kilometres, after which you cycle onto the Waalkade: one of the most iconic places in Nijmegen. Here you can see the Besiendershuis from 1525. Further on you pass the historic Valkhofpark with the Sint-Nicolaaskapel from 1030. At Banketbakkerij Chocolaterie Looijenga you make a stopover, before cycling back to the starting point.
