Your route starts at Ons Backhuys. Immediately after boarding you drive along the meandering Gein through a landscape of green meadows with grazing cows, dikes lined with pollard willows and elongated plots of land with old farms. You pass the Oostzijdse Mill dating from 1874, one of Mondriaan's beloved painting objects. You will also see the old Liniedijk that belongs to the Fort at Nigtevecht further away. On the other side of the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal you can see the thirteenth-century Loenersloot Castle. The route takes you through Nederhorst Den Berg, Vreeland, Loenersloot and Baambrugge. All nice places to stop and enjoy the atmosphere! In Abcoude you can see the fifteenth-century Gothic village church. The Wilhelmina Bridge over the Gein is also beautiful. This quack or pedestrian bridge dates from 1908.
