Walking in the area of wooded Glimmen

The village of Glimmen is surrounded by beautiful forests. This walking tour introduces you to this green area with marshes, fens, sand drifts and old dolmens. Enjoy the beautiful nature and relax in your walking shoes. The starting point of this hike is in the middle of the Appelbergen. This is a former military training area. Nowadays this area is no longer used by the army, so you can enjoy a nice walk through this forest with heath and peat remnants. De Hoge Hereweg runs straight through the forest.  At the end of the route you will arrive at Paviljoen Appelbergen. At this pancake house you can of course go for a delicious pancake, but also for another tasty snack or a cup of coffee. Settle down at the pavilion and relax in the middle of the woods.
