Cycling between Hoogkarspel and Enkhuizen

Discovery garden De Garden is a great starting point for a day of cycling through the West Frisian countryside. Via Bovenkarspel you cycle to Broekershaven. Here you will find another overhaal: an installation to tow a ship over land from one water to another. This was done to bridge a difference in water level. In De Buurt you will see several characteristic farmhouses. Via Hoogkarspel you cycle to De Weelen, a water-rich nature reserve. Then you cycle a few kilometres along the coast of the IJsselmeer. A great opportunity to get a breath of fresh air and relax. You pass Vuurtoren De Ven from 1700, one of the oldest lighthouses in the Netherlands. Through the Streekbos you cycle to Enkhuizen. It will not take you much effort to experience a unique historical atmosphere here.
