The Gelderland-German border area is a great place to cycle. You will find plenty of nature and a rich cultural history here. The route starts in the village of Stokkum. From here you will make a climb through the Bergherbos, after which you will make a crossing through the German town of Elten. Back in the Netherlands you will cycle through Lobith and the neighbouring Tolkamer to Spijk. From the dike you will have a beautiful view over the Rhine and the floodplains. In Germany you will cycle a bit through the Emmericher Ward nature reserve. At the Rheinpromenade in Emmerich am Rhein you can get off to enjoy the view. Here you will see, among other things, the longest suspension bridge (1228 metres) in Germany. Via Netterden and Azewijn you will cycle to the town of 's-Heerenberg. Here you can visit the renovated Huis Bergh Castle.
