By Broersen is your starting point for today. In Westfriesland you can enjoy wide views in a landscape dominated by grasslands, waterways and bulb fields. Molenhuijs Waarland was originally a mill shed that the miller used for storage. However, it could no longer be restored and had to be demolished. But when the mill shed was rebuilt, it turned out that there were no more construction drawings. Incredibly enough, the current mill house was built based on a photo taken during the construction of a lock in 1912. You cycle through villages such as Twisk, where you will see many beautiful thatched farmhouses and centuries-old churches. The name of the village Oostwold, or Oostwoud in Dutch, shows that the Frisian roots are still very much alive here.
