Tour in the footsteps of the liberators

Your route starts at Boutique Hotel Bed&Bos. From here you walk to Historia Park. It is located in the middle of the woods, on the spot where the Allies landed with parachutes in 1944. Here you will find the Museum Bevrijdende Vleugels, which focuses on the liberation of the South of the Netherlands during the Second World War. The museum has a unique collection of military vehicles and aircraft. You can also take a seat in a flight simulator here. You walk back through the woods of the Nieuwe or Sonse Heide. The heathland and drifting sand area is now overgrown with Scots pines with heathlands. Just before the end of the route you will discover the Joe Mann monument. Soldier Joe Mann was killed here in the woods in 1944. He was posthumously awarded the highest American military award, the Medal of Honor.
