Tour of Ruurlo

Your route starts at Camping Klein Haneveld. Jump on your bike and cycle into the beautiful coulisse landscape of the Gelderse Achterhoek. After a beautiful wind through forests and stream valleys, you will arrive at Doolhof Ruurlo. The history of Kasteel Ruurlo is inextricably linked to the noble Van Heeckeren family, who managed the estate from the beginning of the 15th century until 1977. Thanks to the efforts of local patron Hans Melchers, it was given a new life as a museum: this is the second location of Museum MORE. The castle focuses on artist Carel Willink. You will also pass through the town of Ruurlo itself, which once started as a settlement in a vast area with forests and marshes. Nowadays it is a friendly town with a beautiful historic centre in which the fourteenth-century village church stands.
