Tour of Broeker Veiling and Grootschermer Town Hall

Your route starts near the Broeker Veiling. This monumental wooden auction building, dating from 1912, now serves as a museum, making it a fun place to take a look inside! From here, you'll soon see the expansive grasslands of the old Schermer Polder. Every now and then, you'll pass an authentic farmhouse. It'll make much more sense if you've visited the museum first. Further on, you'll cycle along the Eilandspolder, bordered by picturesque villages like Grootschermer. Grootschermer's town hall was built in 1639 and has been restored twice over the centuries. In the 19th century, the building was used to store peat. Alkmaar is known as a true Dutch cheese town.
