Tour of Groevenbeek, Staverden and Putten

Your route starts at the Mariahoeve Museum Farm. You will cycle past the Oud Groevenbeek estate. This estate features an Art Nouveau villa from 1907 and a water tower from 1912 that would not have looked out of place as part of a showpiece castle. It is worth putting your bike aside here! The Staverden estate was built centuries ago as the start of a city, but fortunately that never happened. It is a wonderfully authentic spot with a castle and some farms, in the middle of nature. The Speulderbos near Drie looks like a primeval forest with its gnarled oaks and half-decayed trunks. In the Speulderbos lies the Solse Gat, a pit surrounded by legends that dates back to the Ice Age. You will almost pass it, so get off your bike!
