Your route starts at the Museum Farm Mariahoeve. In the Hanseatic city of Harderwijk, you will follow a cycle path along the Wolderwijd lake to the renovated Strandboulevard. You will then pass through the Beekhuizerzand, a slightly undulating drifting sand area. Especially on sunny days, the dried-up, almost golden sand landscape seems to be on another planet. You will cycle straight through nature to the Ermelosche Heide. Here you will find centuries-old burial mounds and earthen defensive walls from the time of the Romans, who had a Mars camp here. A complete legion of 5,000 men bivouacked here for a few days, before moving on again. At the Ermelosche Heide Visitor Centre, you will learn more about the heathland and the large flock of sheep that grazes the heathland. You will cycle back over the Groevenbeeksche Heide.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
