Cycling between Renesse and Zierikzee

It is quiet cycling on Schouwen-Duiveland. The first kilometers you drive along the Prunje, the oldest polder on the island. The former swamp has been returned to nature and is now a beautiful bird paradise. On the left you look out over Oosterschelde National Park. In Burgh-Haamstede you will pass a partial replica of the ring rampart that once stood here to defend against plundering Normans. You drive through the Vroongronden nature reserve to Renesse. Get off for a pit stop on the cozy terrace of Restaurant HeerlijkZo, before driving into the vast landscape. You pass through the green Schuddebeurs, where several beautiful country estates were built during the Golden Age. Finally, you cycle through Zierikzee. Get off here to take a look at the historic harbor.
