Walking in the countryside around Winterswijk

In the countryside around Winterswijk you can enjoy a lovely peaceful walk through nature. This route runs largely over unpaved paths, so make sure you wear sturdy and waterproof walking shoes. First you walk through a coulisse landscape of grasslands, fields and forests. From the Bekeringweg you walk into Willinks Weust, a small-scale nature reserve with heathlands and blue grassland. On the left you pass a quarry that has been in use since 1932. Of the three excavation areas, one is still in use for extracting limestone. The other two are protected nature reserves. Further on you cross the Ratumse Beek twice. Along the cobblestone roads you will see some beautiful farms. The route starts and ends at Holiday Park Hofparken Wiltershaar: the ideal base for exploring the National Landscape Winterswijk.
