Walk De Bijland and Tolkamer

From Millingen aan de Rijn you can take a walk through part of the De Gelderse Poort nature reserve. You cross the Rhine on a ferry, after which you walk past the De Bijland recreational lake. It is wonderfully quiet here in this park-like environment, ideal for a day of relaxation. You pass the Roman Bather, a sculpture of 10 meters high. It is a reminder of the days when the Rhine here formed part of the Limes, or the border of the Roman Empire. On the other side of the lake you walk to Tolkamer. At Europakade 10 you can still see the monumental customs office from 1906. Finally, you will pass two listening points from the Liberation Route.
