Walk Buurtsche Berg and Plantage Willem III

You start this walk in the Kwintelooijen nature reserve, a former sand quarry. Here you walk through a mix of heathland, grasslands and forest. Then you walk up the Buurtsche Berg, a hill whose top is about 60 meters. It is nice and quiet in the extensive forests, ideal for a day of relaxation. After crossing the Defense Road, you arrive at Plantage Willem III. In the nineteenth century there were several tobacco plantations on this relatively warm southern slope. In the early 1900s, this cultivation became less profitable due to crop diseases and the supply of cheaper and better tobacco from abroad. Now you walk between dry grasslands, heathland and through forest. Finally, you have a beautiful panorama over the Gelderse Vallei. Then you descend to House of Bird Kwintelooijen.
