Walk Buurtsche Berg and Plantage Willem III

You start this walk in the Kwintelooijen nature reserve, a former sand quarry. You walk through a mix of heathland, grasslands and forest. Then you walk up the Buurtsche Berg, a hill with a summit at about 60 metres. It is nice and quiet in the vast forests, ideal for a day of relaxation. After crossing the Defensieweg, you arrive at Plantage Willem III. In the nineteenth century, there were several tobacco plantations on this relatively warm southern slope. At the beginning of 1900, this cultivation became less profitable due to crop diseases and the supply of cheaper and better tobacco from abroad. Now you walk between dry grasslands, heathland and through forest. Finally, you have a beautiful panorama over the Gelderse Vallei. Then you descend to House of Bird Kwintelooijen.
