Stieltjeskanaal tour, Coevorden & Dalen

Your route starts at the attractive farm Bij Aquamarijn. Coevorden is a beautiful old town, with Coevorden Castle as the radiant center. A place with history, because the first castle stood here around 1025. The old fortified city was located in a strategic location between Groningen and Münster. The star-shaped city canal, the street structure and historic buildings date from after the city fire of 1592. Between Dalen and Coevorden you can take a look at the De Bente mill. The current mill was built in 1814. Before that, there was another mill here, but it burned down in 1813 during a raid by the French. While cycling you can regularly admire monumental buildings, such as Saxon farms. In Esdorp Dalen you will pass the Reformed Church from the fifteenth century.
