Havelte tour: via the airport

Your route starts at LUXURY eating and sleeping in Havelte. From here you walk through beautiful primeval nature around the Drenthe esdorp. You first walk to the woods of the Holtingerveld. During the Second World War, the occupying forces built a large airfield here that was intensively bombed in 1945. Here and there, craters in the ground still bear witness to this period. Hence the extremely straight road just above Havelte: here you walk over the former runway. You walk back via Huis Overcinge. This was originally a fief of the Gelderland house of Putten near Elburg and was already mentioned in the early 14th century. However, the current house Overcinge is from a much later date. Yet it remains a beautiful place!
