Tour of Zutphen and Gorsselse Heide

Your route starts at Family Restaurant De Zessprong. Southeast of the Gorssel you will find the Gorsselse Heide. For decades this was a military shooting and training area. There used to be extensive heathlands here that were used by farmers in the area for various purposes, but nowadays there are also forests to be seen. In Almen, the village center still exudes the atmosphere of long ago. Zutphen grew during the Hanseatic period by transporting herring, butter and beer across the IJssel to the Rhine. The skippers brought back wine, but the timber trade also flourished. Striking towers and stately merchant houses determine the street scene.
