Description

Your route soon leads to Netersel, one of the so-called Eight Beatitudes. In the past they were called'the selligheden\\\', or'the beatitudes\\\'. Dutch soldiers who were stationed here during the Belgian Revolution scornfully called the villages 'the wretchedness' - these were difficult times here. The beautiful old villages are typical of the Brabantse Kempen with their many long-fronted farms. Stop off in Baarschot for a cup of coffee at Taverne In de Brouwerij! Vessem is a quiet village with a large rectangular lawn as the central village square and a number of beautiful buildings surrounding it. The oldest of these is the church tower from the 15th century. A nice place for a terrace. In Hoogeloon you will pass the fourteenth-century tower of the demolished St. Pancratius Church. Further on is the new St. Pancratius Church, from 1924.
