Nieuwstadt is a small town north of Sittard on the German border. Get to know this medieval fortified town and the rolling green areas surrounding Nieuwstadt with a short city walk. Take your time for this walk and enjoy pleasant Limburg. Your route starts at't Sjpaorhutje. You pass the nature reserve't Hout, where dead wood can remain. Together with the lots of water you will see many different plants and animals. You walk past the village by following the Vloedgraaf, which used to cause a lot of flooding. The thirteenth-century street plan has been preserved in Nieuwstadt. On the Markt you will see the former Town Hall from 1883. The St. John's Church is built from marl and dates from the thirteenth century.
