Nieuwstadt is a small town north of Sittard on the German border. Get to know this medieval fortified town and the rolling green areas around Nieuwstadt with a short city walk. Take your time for this walk and enjoy the pleasant Limburg. Your route starts at't Sjpaorhutje. You will pass the nature reserve't Hout, where dead wood can simply be left lying. Together with the many waters, you will see many different plants and animals. You walk along the village by following the Vloedgraaf, which used to cause a lot of flooding. In Nieuwstadt, the thirteenth-century street plan has been preserved. At the Markt you will see the former Town Hall from 1883. The Sint-Janskerk is built from marl and dates from the thirteenth century.
