Description
Enkhuizen is a picturesque town on the IJsselmeer full of historical sights. In the 17th and 18th centuries, this city flourished through trade with the Dutch East India Company. Stroll through the streets and through the harbor of Enkhuizen and look for traces from this time, such as the defense tower in the harbor.

In the center of Enkhuizen you will find one sight after another. This walking route takes you along the Zuiderzee Museum, the Sacred Sculpture Museum and the Bottle Ships Museum. The Zuiderzee Museum is dedicated to the Zuiderzee and the surrounding villages and in the Sacred Sculpture Museum you can learn more about the Catholic saints. The most special museum in Enkhuizen is the Flessenscheepjes Museum in an old lockkeeper's house from the 17th century. Here you can view a collection of miniature ships in bottles. You have never seen so many small ships together. You can also enjoy monumental houses and other buildings in Enkhuizen.

City Hall Enkhuizen
A true gem in Enkhuizen is the town hall that was built between 1686 and 1688. This building is considered the masterpiece of architect Steven Vennekool. Between 1980 and 1982, the building was extensively restored. The facade was demolished and rebuilt. The town hall is still in use and it has largely been preserved in its original style.
