Tour of Zelhem and Doetinchem

Your route starts at Slotboom Tweewielers. You cycle through the wooded area to Zelhem. At the Markt you can admire the beautiful Lamberti Church. You drive past Saxon farms to Doetinchem. As early as 838, Doetinchem was mentioned as Duetinghem, a settlement with a church. Now it is the largest city in the region. Havezate Hagen is also known as Kasteel de Kelder. When you think of Hengelo you almost automatically think of the large city in Twente, just next to Enschede. However, this route takes you through the Gelderland village of Hengelo. The Remigius Church that you see here dates from the fifteenth century. On the Steintjesweide you will see the monumental Bleekhuisje from 1750. From this building a watchman kept an eye on the valuable linen and laundry that were bleached here.
