Tour of Zelhem and Doetinchem

Your route starts at Slotboom Tweewielers. You cycle through the wooded area to Zelhem. At the Market you can admire the beautiful Lamberti church. You cycle past Saxon farms to Doetinchem. Doetinchem was already mentioned in 838 as Duetinghem, a settlement with a church. Now it is the largest city in the region. Havezate Hagen is also known as Kasteel de Kelder. When you think of Hengelo, you almost automatically think of the large city that is located in Twente, right next to Enschede. However, this route takes you through the Gelderland village of Hengelo. The Remigius church that you see here dates from the fifteenth century. At the Steintjesweide you can see the monumental Bleekhuisje from 1750. From this building, a guard kept an eye on the precious linen and laundry that was bleached here.
