day 7 DG 23B Utrecht Wijk bij Duurstede, forts and castles, 43 or 54 km

START: from mooring to De Meernbrug.

Under bridge and RIGHT. Take the cycle path (that comes from the bridge) LEFT and go via Kennedystraat to Knpt 52.

Follow the Node List. Along the way, among other things:

Via the center of Utrecht (Knpt 26 and 38) to the Fort at Rijnauwen (just before Knpt 41).

Further on you cycle past Fort Vechten (Knpt 39, 98) with the Waterline Museum.

You touch the edge of Houten (Knpt 99) and then to Werkhoven (Knpt 60).

After Werkhoven you will pass some castles. Beverweerd Castle, Sterkenburg and Hindersteijn towards Knpt 9.

After Knpt 9* Sandenburg Castle.

Via Knpt 13, 14 and 15 you reach Wijk bij Duurstede.

FINISH: row right. Junction 17. When you reach the dike (Dijkstraat), go STRAIGHT AWAY to Havenstraat and then STRAIGHT AWAY to the Haven where the Dutch Grace is waiting for you.

*) Extend the route a bit? Take a detour to Leersum and Amerongen (Amerongen Castle).

Your total comes to 54km

From KNPT 9 continue with 10 - 11 - 18 (Leersum) - 17 (Amerongen with Kasteel of the same name) - direction 37.

Once in Wijk bij Duurstede you cycle over the dike and after the mill you will see the harbor where the Dutch Grace awaits you.
