Just outside Ede you can walk straight onto the Veluwe. Here you will find everything that makes your hiker's heart beat faster: extensive deciduous and coniferous forests, wide heaths, but also the surprisingly beautiful agricultural area of Bow Tie. Bow Tie is located in the middle of nature, a quiet agricultural area of 150 hectares. Because this area is located at a point where two old meltwater valleys meet, the soil is relatively moist. You walk here between meadows and fields, but also under avenues with beautiful old trees. On the Ginkelse heide you run the risk of coming face to face with the herd of Veluwse Heideschapen that graze here. Since the beginning of the twentieth century, the number of Veluwe Heath Sheep has declined rapidly due to stricter laws and regulations: from thousands of animals to just a few hundred.
