Description

Soon after boarding, you will probably want to get off to take a good look at the first sight: Fort Jutphaas. This defensive structure was built around 1820 and was part of the New Dutch Waterline. Along the quays of the Lek Canal and the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal, you cycle to the pleasant city centre of Utrecht. Here you will literally stumble over many beautiful old buildings. In the countryside you will pass Fort Rijnauwen from the New Dutch Waterline. The fort was built at the end of the nineteenth century, nowadays it serves as a nature reserve. In Driebergen you can take a look at the Sparrendaal country house, after which you can enjoy a real farm ice cream at IJsboerderij Vrederust. Via the picturesque Werkhoven and Houten you cycle back to Nieuwegein.
