The Veluwezoom is a special area for cycling. This is because it is located between the wooded, hilly landscape of the Veluwe and the lower floodplains of the Rhine and IJssel.
The amount of other places of interest is at least as generous: old churches, a beautiful stretch of the river IJssel and one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands; National Park Veluwezoom with many opportunities to see wildlife.
Given the length, the tough climbing and the many sights, this route lends itself to a full day program. For the less experienced cyclist, riding the route by electric bicycle is a good alternative.
The route of approximately 53 km is fully signposted using the ANWB signs. In addition, individual adjustments can be made to the route on the basis of bicycle junctions. The suggested starting point is Veluwetransferium Posbank, but because the tour is circular, it is possible to start at any point along the route.
During the route you will also pass a number of major attractions. Look for the special animals in the Bush or the Ocean of Koninklijke Burgers\\\' Zoo or go back in Dutch history at the Dutch Open Air Museum. Common on the Veluwezoom, also called Gelders Arcadia, are the castles and estates of wealthy families. You will come across Park and Kasteel Rosendael (near 71) towards the end of the cycle route. With a special collection of furniture, silver and porcelain, the castle gives a good idea of how life used to be. When taking a walk in the surrounding park, don't forget to take a look at the famous'imposters\\\'.
The route can also be shortened by following the road up to the Posbank at the Rheden railway station at cycle junction 85.
