Walking through the countryside of Ootmarsum

Spring Valley
The boarding point of this route is in Ootmarsum. From here you can quickly walk into the green countryside. You walk here, among other things, through the Springendal. This nature reserve is also sometimes referred to as'the garden of the Netherlands\\\'. You will find seepage ponds, waterfalls and narrow streams that run right through the forest and provide a romantic sight. There are also meadows, hay meadows, heaths and historic farms. All these elements together create an idyllic landscape that begs to be discovered.

City hotel Ootmarsum
At the end of the route you will return to Ootmarsum. Around the year 1000, this town was one of the largest parishes in Twente. The rise of the industry in the 20th century passed Ootmarsum and therefore it has remained small. In the center of Ootmarsum you can spend the night at Stadshotel Ootmarsum. Have a good rest here and possibly undertake route 412197 the next day.

Burial mounds in Nutter
On the way you walk through the small hamlet of Nutter. Here you walk through a rolling landscape that was created during the penultimate ice age, when the north of the Netherlands was covered by glaciers. This hamlet has an ancient history. Burial mounds have been found here, which proves that people already lived here in the Stone Age and early Bronze Age. Keep your eyes open to spot these burial mounds. These types of cemeteries are often hardly recognizable in the landscape.
