Description
Around Arcen are some beautiful nature reserves waiting for you. Get on your bike and come and enjoy the rich natural beauty and tranquility.
Anna chapel
You will find some places of interest here, such as the ruin of the Schanstoren, a fifteenth-century remnant of the former fortifications of Arcen. Just outside the village you pass Castle Arcen and the Wymarse Mill from 1677. Just before Hasselt is the Hoogwaterhuis with Annakapel, a beautiful old monument. From the dike you then have a beautiful view over the floodplains and the Maas.
Black Water
Further on you will pass through the woods of the Zwart Water. You mainly see oaks and birches here. You can also cycle along the Venkoelen, an old Maasmeander. Not much later you drive through a number of contiguous forest areas: the Lommerheide and the Leermarkse Heide. In the middle of the forest you can settle down at Hotel Arcense Herberg for a coffee and a snack. The last part of the route you drive through a mix of forest, stream valley and water catchment area.
