On the edge of Baarn lies the Baarnse Bos, a quiet and green forest area. This forest is located on a spur of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and it mainly exists on contiguous estates. Looking for peace and space? Then go for a walk in these woods.
Drakenburg estate
In addition to plenty of peace and green nature, you will also find an estate on this route with the remains of an old country house: Drakenburg. In the 14th century, Drakenburg was a knight's court town with a castle. This castle stood here until the beginning of the 19th century. In 1811 the castle was replaced by a stately country house by the then owner of Drakenburg. In 1870, this country house was also completely demolished, except for the coach house. Since then the estate has had various uses, but since the 1990s a conference center has been established. The remnants of the old coach house have been incorporated into the new building on the manor house.
Pancake farm De Wildenburg
You can take a break on this route at Pannenkoekenboerderij De Wildenburg. You can of course go here for the tastiest pancakes that are made with ancient grains such as spelled and oats. You can also drink a cup of coffee or eat another delicious dish here. Get some new energy and then you can go on the road again.
Royal Barn
From the Baarnse Bos you can be in Baarn in no time. This city is mainly known for the castles that can be found here. You will find Soestdijk Palace and Drakestein Castle here. In short, if you love the royal family, Baarn is a real must-see. You will also find all kinds of beautiful parks that are perfect for a walk.
