Description
Today you will discover the National Landscape Southwest Friesland, one of the twenty National Landscapes that the Netherlands is rich in. It consists of the IJsselmeer coast, Gaasterland and the peat area with the southwestern Frisian lakes. Hindeloopen is one of the Frisian Eleven Cities, it was granted city rights in 1225. These 11 Frisian cities are places that have been granted city rights, especially known for the Eleven Cities Tour. In Workum you will see beautiful buildings such as the former town hall, the weigh house and the Sint-Gertrudiskerk. This is also one of the Frisian Eleven Cities. A visit to the Jopie Huisman Museum is well worth it. As you cycle along the vast meadows, you can enjoy the refreshing silence. A little further on you will come through Gaastmeer with its marina, a holiday feeling at its best!
