Walking through the Right Field

A bit south of Dalfsen you will find the Rechterense Veld. This is a varied nature reserve with coniferous forests, deciduous forests and heaths. This was once a shifting sand area and the hills are still visible here. A wonderful area to explore on foot.

Historic buildings
The starting point of this route is on the edge of Dalfsen. From here you can walk straight into the woods in the area. Enjoy the tranquility of this nature reserve and admire Havezate Den Berg along the way. The exact age of this estate is not known. It was first mentioned in a purchase deed from 1483, so the manor house was already there then. The estate is currently owned by a noble family who have lived in the manor house for centuries. Another point of interest along the route is the Den Aalshorst country estate. Until the 17th century this was an ordinary farm. The current house was not built here until 1720.

Grand Café The Old Station
Grand Café The Old Station on the edge of Dalfsen forms the base of this route. Here you can not only park your car, but also drink a cup of coffee, have lunch or dinner. Enjoy a nice meal while you recover from your walk.

Special flora and fauna
In the Rechterense Veld you will find various special plants and animals. For example, the forest horsetail and the royal fern grow here. Breeding birds that feel at home here are the raven, the buzzard, the woodlark and the oriole. In addition to birds, dragonflies and special butterflies also live here. This nature reserve used to be grazed by a herd of sheep. The wooden sheepfold in the Rechterense Veld is still a reminder of this.
