Description

This cycling route through the heart of Friesland is highly recommended for lovers of nature, culture, and water sports. The route is shaped like a figure eight and takes you past all sorts of picturesque villages served by a ferry!

You'll cycle through the vast lowland peat bog of De Alde Feanen National Park. The island of De Burd is only accessible by ferry. You might even spot a white-tailed eagle or a flock of deer! Stop in Earnewald to visit the National Park Visitor Center. The Skutsje Museum and the Eibertshiem stork station are also highly recommended.

Along the way in Grou, Nes, and Oudega, you'll find various rest stops, picnic tables, and terraces where you can relax and enjoy the view of the beautiful landscape.
