Tour of Steenwijk

In the Kop van Overijssel region, you can enjoy a wonderfully peaceful cycle through a vast landscape. You'll find unspoiled nature, views of babbling lakes, and of course, picturesque Giethoorn. This route also takes you through Havelte in Drenthe. Picturesque Giethoorn, thanks to its many bridges and waterways, is known as the Venice of the North. The oldest building in Giethoorn is the Reformed Church, dating from 1645. Nearby, you'll have beautiful views of lakes like the Molengat and the Bovenwijde. In old reclamation villages like Nijeveen and Kolderveen, you'll see charming hall-house farms. In Havelte, you'll see many monumental farms. You'll also pass the Clemens Church, dating from 1310. Its tower was built a century later.
