Round Rhine between Groessen and Tolkamer

Your route starts at Camping De Waay. This route takes you around the fork of the Rhine at Pannerden. Truly a route to fully enjoy lots of water, vast fields and floodplains and wide views. You cycle past the Havezate Camphuysen estate. The oldest parts of the foundations date back to the 14th century and the walls still largely date from the 16th century. The historic Huis Aerdt dates from 1652. At Tolkamer you reach the Rhine. The name of the village Tolkamer can be traced back to the time when skippers transporting cargo from Germany to the Netherlands had to pay toll. Beavers, Konik horses and Galloway cattle live in the Millingerwaard. Fort Pannerden can be visited: you can take a guided tour or wander through the 124 rooms yourself.
