After a cup of coffee at the Wapen van Elst you get on your bike. The best of both worlds is combined in this cycle route: the wooded southern area of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the watery surroundings of the Lower Rhine. Prattenburg country estate is located on the edge of Veenendaal. On the estate there is a house with a castle-like appearance, built in 1887. The estate was first mentioned in a document from 1474. You cycle over the southernmost part of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug to De Burgwal, located on the edge of Amerongen. Here three sheepfolds are built close to each other. Amerongen Castle, which has existed since 1286, is located on the south side of Amerongen. That year, Floris van Holland commissioned the original house to be built.

The most famous windmill type in the Netherlands. Windmills were used not only to produce flour from cereals, but also to reclaim polder areas. Natural energy. The most famous windmills can be found in Kinderdijk, really set up as a polder model. A must see!
