After a cup of coffee at the Wapen van Elst you get on your bike. The best of both worlds is combined in this cycling route: the wooded southern area of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the water-rich environment of the Lower Rhine. Prattenburg estate is located on the edge of Veenendaal. The estate contains a castle-like house, built in 1887. The estate was first mentioned in a document from 1474. You cycle over the southernmost part of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug to De Burgwal, located on the edge of Amerongen. Here are three sheepfolds built close to each other. On the south side of Amerongen is Amerongen Castle, which has existed since 1286. That year, Floris van Holland commissioned the carpentry of the original house.

The most famous windmill type in the Netherlands. Windmills were used not only to produce flour from cereals, but also to reclaim polder areas. Natural energy. The most famous windmills can be found in Kinderdijk, really set up as a polder model. A must see!
