Description

Your route starts at Brasserie De Kar. Along the edge of the Kalmthoutse Heide you drive towards the small village of Wildert. Get off at the Bakkersmolen and Steam and Bakery Museum, in the youngest windmill in Flanders (1981). A little further on you will discover the 7-metre-high De Klot watchtower in the Maatjes nature reserve, a cross-border swamp reed landscape. The name'de Klot\\\' refers to a lump, a clod of peat or peat: between the years 1250 and 1750, peat was mined here on an almost industrial scale. From the watchtower you can still see peat relics in the landscape. A little further on you will pass the Turfvaart. Just above Achtmaal you can take a lunch break at't Pannehûske before continuing to Wuustwezel. Here you cycle past Kasteel De Spiegel.
