Walking through the hills near Valkenburg

This beautiful walk takes you through the wooded hills of South Limburg, such as the famous Cauberg. In Valkenburg you can experience the rich history of the Heuvelland.

The route starts at Brasserie Bie de Groeve. You can enjoy a coffee with something delicious here before you set off. You soon pass some old marl farms and the monumental Sint-Monulphus and Gondulphuskerk. It is wonderfully quiet walking in the woods. You descend to the Geul, after which you follow the footpath along this river for a while. On the other side of the water you look out over the flowery grasslands of the Ingendael nature reserve.

Valkenburg
At the foot of the Cauberg you walk into the Polferbos. You will find different tree species and beautiful vistas. In Valkenburg you can see some beautiful monuments, such as the fourteenth-century Grendelpoort and of course the ruins of Valkenburg Castle. You can also visit the Velvet Cave and the Steenkolenmijn Valkenburg. Via the Daalhemerweg, known from the Amstel Gold Race, you walk back into the countryside. What a beautiful panorama\\\'s!
