Description
The members of Meervogel, all farmers, are concerned about the fate of the meadow birds. The birds are having a hard time due to all kinds of changing circumstances in their habitat. The Meervogel farmers adapt their way of working with the bird population in mind. For example, they mow their lands later than others, or follow a different fertilization plan. The aim is to improve the conditions for the birds in such a way that the chances of nesting increase, but also that they can actually raise their chicks.
We would like to show that the birds are close to our hearts to the public, bird lovers, cyclists, hikers and others who are interested in the Groningen countryside. The route shows various aspects of agriculture, meadow birds and geese in this area. Ten different information panels provide background information that aids in looking around and observing. On each panel there is a route map with the place where you are.
