Cycling through the Vecht valley near Hardenberg

Your route starts at Hotel-Café-Restaurant-Snackbar Beerzeveld. This route leads you through the Overijsselse Vechtdal between Mariënberg and Hardenberg. The landscape around Hardenberg is characterized by untouched nature, historic towns and characteristic farms on the border of the Vechtdal and Reestdal. You really feel like you are in a bygone era here. Be sure to get off in the village of Rheeze, which has been around since the early Middle Ages. It has a characteristic and well-preserved green, around which the farms are grouped. Mariënberg dates back to the 14th century, when the Brothers of Common Life from the monastery near Sibculo built the Hut Mariaborch. This hut formed the basis for their work in the peat bogs, which were then east of the present village.
