E-bike route history and nature in Westerbork

Your route starts at the Camp Westerbork Remembrance Center. In the museum you can learn more about the lives of victims and survivors of the Westerbork concentration camp. The last barracks of the camp were demolished in 1971. In the 1990s, original barrack parts were reinstalled. This allows visitors to imagine much better what the camp looked like in the past. You cycle through the woods to De Kippesthee Koffie & Thee, be sure to get off here! The ancient village of Orvelte is a real attraction. You will find all kinds of historical sights that are almost a thousand years old. In a number of buildings you can learn more about old crafts such as wood sawing, iron forging and glass blowing. Furthermore, Orvelte is a car-free village, so you can cycle around in peace.
