Tour Boswachterij Dorst and Vrachelse Heide

This tour of Boswachterij Dorst and Vrachelse Heide starts at Hieriest Eetcafé. First you will discover De Donge at's Gravenmoer: this is unusually not a river but a lowland stream. It is created by groundwater and rainwater that merge into a stream. You then continue to Boswachterij Dorst, a forest area that mainly consists of pine trees that were planted in the early 19th century. You drive back via the Vrachelse Heide, a former heath and shifting sand area that is nowadays mainly planted with Scots pine. On the outskirts of Oosterhout you will find several places of interest, such as the OLV Abbey, which is still in use by the Benedictine sisters. Oosterhout itself is a nice old town to pick up a terrace and soak up the atmosphere.
